Our Asmodian ancestors discovered Reshanta centuries ago, but the Eye of Reshanta is mostly a mystery to us even today.

We don't know who built the Divine Fortress. We don't know why there are no ghosts or other monsters there. And we know little about the lower levels of the fortress.

Oh, we search for answers, and I'll wager the Elyos have, too. But we're thwarted at every turn.

• "Thwarted by what?"

The problem is the lower levels of the Divine Fortress. Enigmatic beings called "Defenders" reside down there, and they eliminate anyone who approaches.

I just know there's something important beneath the fortress! And I think the Defenders keep the Eye clear of ghosts and other horrors of the Abyss.

It's all conjecture, though... we don't even know who wrought the Defenders. They might be servants of a Balaur Lord, or maybe they serve Aion. It gives me shivers...

• Accept.
• Decline.

I asked Grunn, the closest thing we have to an anatomist, about the Defenders. He says with core samples from each protector, he could study where they came from and how they're controlled.

Daeva, defeat a Aether’s Defender, Fire’s Defender, Ancient Defender, and Nature’s Defender. Return with their cores.

One additional complication...Grunn says the cores are fragile, and it's hard to defeat a Defender without smashing the core inside. Good luck with that...

• "Yeah, for science, right?"

The Defenders guarding the Divine Fortress block exploration of the Eye of Reshanta. Gather cores from the Aether's Defenders, Fire's Defenders, Ancient Defenders, and Nature's Defenders, to bring a complete set to Muelina.

We could feel a rumbling deep beneath the Divine Fortress. Was that you?

I figured as much. Show me the Defender's Cores, please. Grunn needs them right away.

• "Here they are."

It's not a complete set, but you know what? I didn't expect success.

Well, not on your first try. You aren't the first Daeva I've assigned to this. Many have sought the Defender's Cores, but everyone's failed so far.

Don't give up now! Try again, and walk in Azphel's shadow.

• "All right, once more."

Excellent work. There has been grumbling about my sending Daevas on "suicide missions." I'm glad to prove it false.

There is one element of truth, though. You weren't the first Daeva I sent against the Defenders. But not only did you come back, you brought a full set of cores!

Blood for blood, Daeva! I'll send these to Grunn at Primum Fortress.

Muelina's research into the Divine Fortress was frustrated by the Defenders of the Eye of Reshanta. Not knowing what purpose the Defenders serve, she doesn't dare destroy them all, but she asked you to gather cores from a Aether's Defender, Fire's Defender, Ancient Defender, and Nature's Defender for her.

You defeated the Defenders lurking in the lower levels of the fortress and returned with four different types of cores as Muelina instructed. She will send them to Grunn, an expert in the denizens of the Abyss.
