Update 5.0 adds the Refinement system to AION Classic Europe. You use flux on an accessory to give it refinement attributes. This guide covers which accessories qualify, where flux comes from and what happens to refinements when you upgrade.
How refining works
- Accessories of eternal quality or higher can receive refinement attributes with flux.
- Chance decides which attribute you get, how large its value is and how many attributes the accessory receives.
- Accessories of the Guardian Brigade General and the Archon Brigade General cannot be refined.
- Refinement attributes stay on the accessory when it is upgraded.
Where flux comes from
- Siel's Anvil crafts
Prismatic Flux from 
Medals and 
Kinah, or from 
Enchantment Stones and Kinah. A great success can give a flux that can be traded globally. - The
Arcanium Trader in the Crest of Wrath region of Teva sells Prismatic Flux, and you can exchange Arcanium there for flux. The Golden Apple Trees in Teva now have more Arcanium Trees with a shorter respawn time. - Enemies in Teva can drop tradeable fluxes, and sealed treasure chests in Teva can contain fluxes.
- On the battleships in Tiamaranta Mesa, the Special Shugo Trader sells the
Shugo Merchant’s Prismatic Flux Bundle, limited to 2 per day per character. The patch notes say the offer may change in later updates. - Flux is a loot reward in Iron Citadel, Phaestos’ Disc, Wall of Lament, Tartarus, Dokkaebi Realm, Burning Blood Fortress, Sunayaka’s Treasure Chamber, Labyrinth of Echoes and Secret of the Cube Trial. The table below names the bosses and chests where Special Large Fluxes can drop.
Instance bosses and chests with flux
Special Large Fluxes from Normal to Fabled quality are possible loot from these bosses and chests. Sunayaka’s Treasure Chamber and the Secret of the Cube Trial also give flux but are not in this table.

Upgrades and ascension
- Archon and Guardian Commodore's accessories can be upgraded at the Altar of Transcendence in the Ascension tab.
- Refinement values stay intact when you ascend an accessory there.
Common questions
Which accessories can I refine? Those of eternal quality or higher, except accessories of the Guardian and Archon Brigade General.
Do I lose refinements when I upgrade? No. The attributes stay through upgrades, and the values stay intact when you ascend at the Altar of Transcendence.
Can I trade flux? Some of it. Tradeable fluxes drop from enemies in Teva, and a great success on the Prismatic Flux recipe can give a flux that can be traded globally.
