The brass at Eltnen Fortress are out of touch with the realities we live with every day. They've assigned us a patrol area that's far too large to cover.

We can just about manage to patrol the major danger spots, but there are potential problem areas, and I can't spare anyone to investigate.

• "What kind of problems?"

For one thing, the desert north of here is usually full of Morphinos, but I haven't seen one in weeks.

And Dartas Village, south of Sataloca's Tomb, is unusually quiet. I haven't seen any smoke from their chimneys in several days.

South of here at Gryphu Nest, you can usually find Razorwing Gryphus. They're scavengers, and I'm afraid the fact that they haven't left the area for several days means there's a rich source of carcasses there to attract them.

• "That's a little disturbing."

More than a little, Daeva. So how about it?

It'd be a great help to us if you'd take this on.

• Accept.
• Decline.

Thanks. I know it's a lot to ask.

Okay, north of here you'll find Morphinos's Trace. Dartas Village is towards the southern end of Sataloca's Heart, and Gryphu Nest, where the Razorwing Gryphus are, is just south of where we're standing.

Come back and tell me how it went.

• "Will do."

Demokritos, the leader of the Desert Scouts, wants you to scout out some local areas and report back to him.

How did your scouting trip go?

I've got time, so tell me all the details.

• "The news isn't good, I'm afraid...."

I can scarcely believe it's true, Daeva. The Morphinos massacred? Dartas Village destroyed? If I'd known, I would have acted before now....

And now this decaying area so near the outpost...I'm going to notify Eltnen Fortress right away.

Thank you anyway for carrying out such a difficult mission.

Demokritos was concerned about the Morphinos and Dartas Village, and the large concentration of Razorwing Gryphus south of the scout base.

You scouted the desert and found out that the Morphinos had been massacred and that Dartas Village was destroyed. You also found that the southern part of the scout base was decaying.
