Story

The offer

Clearly you hunger to improve yourself, Daeva. I don't question that it's your purpose.

But you must ask yourself: How you wish to improve?

  • "What do you mean?"

To understand my meaning, you will first have to ask more questions.

  • Accept.
  • Decline.

When you first ascended, you made a choice, and that choice has defined you.

You chose the way of the Daeva. Yet are you still that Daeva?

Speak with your Class Preceptors. Ask them the questions you have been asking me, and see if the answers satisfy.

  • "I hope they do."

Journal

Talk to your class preceptor for more advice.

Along the way

You're not here for training, so what is it?

  • "What is the meaning of life?"

The meaning of life is battle and glory. When I feel my strikes breaking bone and flesh, I'm happy.

When I defeat my enemies, I find purpose.

  • "Is that truly all there is?"

That's all there is for a Warrior. Daevas like us find our purpose in war.

  • "Thank you for your candor."

Perhaps you should ask the Daeva preceptor. I don't think much about such things.

  • "Very well."

What business have you with me? New poisons to share? Stories to tell?

  • "I wonder: What's the meaning of life?"

The meaning of life? That's what you came to ask? Well, no matter what anyone else tells you, the meaning of life is to have fun.

  • "Is that all there is?"

I've been a Scout for centuries, and there's no better feeling than the thrill of the hunt and the rush of close combat.

And the celebrations afterward, of course. To me, that's life.

  • "Thanks for your insight."

Why don't you ask the Daeva preceptor, Daeva?

  • "Very well."

You've returned, and not for training. What have you come to talk about?

  • "What is the meaning of life?"

Everyone asks themselves that very question. I'm of the opinion that the answer is knowledge.

There's always more to learn, after all.

  • "Is that really all there is?"

All a Mage needs is knowledge. Knowledge, to us, is literally power. And what greater goal could there be than to become the most powerful Mage in Atreia?

  • "Thank you for your candor."

You overestimate my knowledge! Perhaps ask the Daeva preceptor instead, and they can answer better than I.

  • "Very well."

What have you come to speak about?

  • "What is the meaning of life?"

Duty and responsibility. Service. Helping others. These are what keep our glorious civilization together.

  • "Is that really all there is?"

A Priest must practice sacrifice and compassion. We must devote our entire lives to the service of Elysea.

  • "Thank you for your candor."

I'm not certain I can help you. Perhaps talk to the Daeva preceptor?

  • "Very well."

Are you making good progress, Daeva?

Only you can know what your goals are and why you’ve chosen this path.

But there’s something I can do for you.

  • You ask about finding your essential goal as a Daeva.

You are an unusual being, one who takes fate into their own hands. So it is only to be expected that you would face so much doubt and spend a long time thinking about your decisions.

But try not to worry about every possibility and get yourself in a twist. Figure out what is most important for the path you want to take. Then you’ll have your answer.

It’s only natural to ask lots of questions before making a big decision. It’s a necessary part of the process. It’s generally best if you find your own answer.

All I shall tell you is that the path towards Daeva is still open to you. I’m excited to see which path you will take.

Head out on your path full of conviction and belief in yourself.

  • ‘Is that really how I’ll achieve my goal?’

Think about why you’re walking the path of the Revenant. You decided to forge your own path and take the responsibility for your progress into your own hands, didn’t you?

If you keep believing in yourself as a Daeva, then you’ll develop into a magnificent Daeva, no matter what choice you make.

That way you’ll doubtlessly learn what your life’s goal is.

You can ignore any stares or judgement from other people. They’re irrelevant. The only important thing is to prepare yourself for the Revenant’s path, and thus tread the path to your future.

  • You end the conversation.

I’m glad that you’re asking me for advice, Daeva, but I won’t be able to help you much.

I’m a Revenant after all...

I don’t know much about being a Daeva.

You’d be better off asking a Daeva Master for guidance.

  • You end the conversation.

And what did your preceptor have to offer you?

  • "He said there was only one real meaning..."

And is that the meaning that satisfies you? Is that enough to hold you through eternity?

What if I told you there was something higher, purer to devote yourself to?

  • "What would that be?"

Aion's power, imbued directly in the physical world. Daevanion armour, so beautiful it will make you weep to look upon it.

And stronger than anything else in the world. But only a truly devoted Daeva will ever have all five pieces....

  • "And that is my purpose?"

It would be a long, arduous path to walk, but each piece you obtain will fill you with joy as you've never known before.

Wearing it, you'll feel embraced by the pure love of Aion.

Would you walk that path? Or would you rather remain devoted to the way of the Daeva?

  • "I'll devote myself to Daevanion Armour."
  • "I'll stay a devoted Daeva."

The first step to making Daevanion Armour is to understand that Aion's purpose for you is as a protector.

You must obtain the enlightenment of endless battles, fill yourself with Divine Power.

That energy comes from Aion. When your body glows with it, then we can infuse it into Daevanion Armour.

  • "I shall walk this path."
  • "I'll stay my own course."

You shall remain a proud Daeva to the end? Perhaps that is your meaning of life, Daeva.

But if you feel that there is more, fill yourself with Divine Power and return to me.

  • "I am satisfied for now."
  • "Maybe I'll walk the path to Daevanion Armour."

Do you bear Aion's energy within you? Is your body filled with Divine Power?

  • "Yes."

You have not yet pushed yourself to the limit, Daeva. You must prove your faith in many more battles before you return.

  • "Very well."

Do you bear Aion's energy within you? Is your body filled with Divine Power?

  • "Indeed. I can hardly contain it."

You have not yet pushed yourself to the limit, Daeva. You must prove your faith in many more battles before you return.

  • "Very well."

Reward

I shall infuse your Divine Power into this armour now. Bear it proudly, and Aion shall always be with you.

I shall infuse your Divine Power into this armour, now. Bear it proudly, and Aion shall always be with you.

Completion

Fermina told you to ask your class preceptor about the meaning of life.

The preceptor gave you a simple, unsatisfying answer.

Fermina told you of another path, one that would reward you with Daevanion Armour infused with Aion's power.

You brought back the Divine Power of many battles and she infused that power into armour.
