Story

The offer

You may already know this, but in the battles for Gelkmaros it matters how quickly we can establish favourable conditions for ourselves.

That’s why we’re trying to install as many artificial aether generators as possible.

In particular, we’ve made great efforts to convert the destroyed Nunglark Ruins into an aether environment, but so far there have been no significant results.

  • You keep listening.

That’s because the Balaur have already installed a drana cultivation device in this area.

The drana cultivation device is the pinnacle of Balaur technology. It does not prevent the generation of artificial aether; instead it pumps the drana and activates them.

Even if we install an aether generator, it’s useless as long as we cannot destroy the Balaur’s drana cultivation device.

The device resembles a living organism; even if you destroy it, it regenerates, so we don’t yet know how to destroy it permanently.

Currently Farbin is studying how to destroy the drana cultivation device, but he said he needs help.

Then please, Daeva, help Farbin with his work.

  • You end the conversation.

Note: Help Farbin expand Gelkmaros’ aether region.

Along the way

Nysdvor said he would send a very capable person to assist the Drana eradication operation... is that you, Daeva?

Then you can take on the assignment.

He is conducting research into destroying the Drana cultivation device, but he needs some field trials and therefore your help.

  • You keep listening.

If you look around this area, you’ll find that both the aether generator and the Drana cultivation device are nearby.

Originally, we used the aether generator we installed to alter the environment changed by the Drana cultivation device.

As a result, the energies of the two devices collide and create a very peculiar environment.

... and in his hand he held the Golden Qooqoo of... Where was I again...?

Ah yes... Right. Drana. Aether. So, the conflict between these two devices creates a new environment that horribly mutates everything around it or kills it outright. Or worse!

  • You keep listening.

First, we need samples of the plants and animals from this area.

Plants change gradually and stop producing seeds. Animals, by contrast, mutate quickly; however, sometimes they die during mutation.

Obtain a specimen of the Marayas Wild Grass.

It will come back to me in a moment. Ah yes... And I’d also need a few tissue samples from a Wilds Barghest and a Mutated Barghest Corpse. That should be enough.

  • You end the conversation.

Did you bring a tissue sample?

... that should NEVER have turned so blue so quickly... Oh, you manag... I mean... made it back... Good. That disproves my current theory... I suppose I can file it away... Problem solved!

I asked you for samples, remember? You’re really quick. Though not as fast as the legendary Melisende... She managed twelve rounds in a single hour... That was during the time of the second uprising of the F... Ah yes... the samples. But let me first examine your hands for mutations. We can’t afford another outbreak like the bubonic plague back then! Horrible! I have a book with all four hundred symptoms...

  • Is that enough?

Now I can use this to make something that will be able to destroy the drana growing device.

Instead of using physical force, we’ll use the power of chemistry to manipulate the structure of the Drana Growing Device to render it harmless!

  • You keep listening.

Now that the agents and Brigade Generals have secured the area, it’s time to show results.

(Shows you a bottle of liquid.) This drana solution will absorb drana from drana growing devices.

If the core substance of the Drana is destroyed, the Drana cultivation device will gradually wither away.

  • You keep listening.

Here, take this. Please use it to destroy the Marayas Drana Growing Device.

Oh, be careful.

If the solution is exposed to the air or gets on objects, that’s harmless, but if it contacts the body or tissue, it will cause serious problems.

That doesn’t mean they will refuse it.

  • You keep listening.

Once you’ve removed the Drana cultivation device with the solvent, use this summoning stone at the spot where the device stood to install the aether generator.

It would be advisable to install the summonable aether generators one by one at the spots where the Marayas Drana Growing Device stood.

Then I ask for your assistance.

  • You end the conversation.

... the Jorelian hypothesis makes the most sense, but that would mean that Kelin’s blade...

Our research found that the tissue of the Wilds Barghests had absorbed especially large amounts of Drana. Now that the aether flows more strongly again, the Wilds Barghests are also weakening.

It’s all thanks to you destroying the drana growing device, Daeva. That aether generator you set up in its place is working well.

  • You keep listening.

This joyful news must be reported to the leadership.

Please go and see Valetta and tell her the news, Daeva.

She’s been waiting to hear back for a while now, so I’m sure she’ll be pleased.

  • You end the conversation.

Greetings, Daeva. Did you talk to Farbin?

Yes, I can see from your pained expression that you met. How are his experiments regarding aethertapping in Gelkmaros coming along?

Is Marayas Scrubland still heavily permeated by drana?

Please tell me everything.

  • You give your mission report.

Reward

Well done! You destroyed the Drana cultivation device and installed the aether generator, a result that exceeds my expectations.

With that we have achieved our first victory against the incursion in Gelkmaros. Now that we know how to destroy the Drana cultivation device, the advance on Tiamaranta is only a matter of time.

Please continue to work to ensure that the realm of the aether expands further in Gelkmaros.

Completion

Nysdvor asked you to help Farbin in the Marayas Scrubland; he is researching the aether generator and the drana cultivation device there.

He had Farbin collect biological samples from the Marayas wilderness and used them to create a substance intended to destroy the drana cultivation device.

After he used the solution to destroy the Marayas Drana Growing Device, he installed an artificial aether generator at the same site and experimented with expanding Gelkmaros’ aether region.

When the results were presented, it was hoped that Gelkmaros’ aether region would expand further.
