Irkale asked you to obtain the tusks of the Swamp Mamuts so that he can conduct his research.

I’ve formulated several hypotheses as to why the mammoths here might have smaller horns.

Migration could be one reason. Another possibility could be adaptations that compensate for horn length.

Without solid data, these are only hypotheses. Hence my request to you.

• You hand him the Swamp Mamut horns.

Hmm, not quite. For my research I need a lot of Swamp Mamut horns.

To test my hypotheses I need more horns. Otherwise I’ll have to interrupt my progress to acquire more horns.

So you see, it’s more efficient for both of us if you obtain the required number of horns now, all at once.

• You end the conversation.

Hmmm.

At first glance I can already see several fascinating avenues of research.

In a way it’s a pity to have to kill these peaceful creatures, especially in Balaurea, but it’s necessary.

It’s not much, but I hope this compensates you at least a little.

Irkale explained that the Swamp Mamuts in Balaurea are different from those in Asmodae and that the shrunken horns are a truly unique feature.

She wanted to find out why the horns – the Mamut's most powerful weapon – had shrunk.

You did that. Irkale praised your reliability highly.
