Ah, Daeva! Good, you're still here.

A letter from Grunn just arrived. That idiot. I mean, he's a genius, but...still an idiot.

It seems we don't have a complete set of Defender's cores after all.

• "Wait, we don't?"

Grunn says he "deduces the existence" of some other varieties of Defenders. I think that's Grunn-speak for "completely missed."

We need intact cores from a Light’s Defender and a Shadow’s Defender.

I know, this is hardly your fault. But...I still have enough "discretionary research funds" to make it worth your while.

• Accept.
• Decline.

Grunn might be an idiot, but he's a very clever sort of idiot.

Note this part of the letter: "The Light’s Defender and Shadow’s Defender do not coexist...."

"When the Light's Defenders are present, the Shadow's Defenders hide themselves, and vice versa..." Hope that helps.

• "I'll solve this riddle."

Muelina needs cores from two more types of Defenders. Gather cores from Light's Defenders and Shadow's Defenders and bring them to her.

You look weary. Those Defenders are tenacious foes, eh?

Still, your previous experience must have helped. Did you get all the cores?

• "Here you go."

I said five each of the Light's Defender's Core and Shadow's Defender's Core, right?

And...the Defenders of Light and Shadow do not appear together, I know I mentioned that...

Uh, you can count to five, can't you, Daeva? Aah, forget I asked....

• "Yes, yes, I'll be back."

Five! That's five each, and we have ten cores here.

Blood for blood, as you soldiers say! Aaaand here you are. It's the reward I promised.

I hope you find it to your liking, Daeva. It seems the sort of thing you'd need.

Muelina was told of the Defenders of Light and Shadow, and needed you to get cores from those two Defenders as well.

So you waited for each elusive type of Defender to appear, defeated them, and returned with the cores to Muelina, to her relief.
