Story

The offer

There you are, Daeva.

I have summoned you as we need to check and protect the state of the Daevas.

As of late, more and more Daevas have been complaining of dizziness, memory loss and even palsy.

Are you perhaps suffering from these complaints, too?

  • ‘I don’t have any complaints.’

Hmm, so nothing’s changed?

Daevas dispatched to Apheta Beluslan and Tartarus have been exhibiting some strange symptoms lately.

We believe these symptoms are caused by the temporal manipulation taking place there.

Abnormalities can occur at any time, only differing in their scale.

Even if everything feels fine for now, Daeva, we need to keep a close eye on you.

Go to High Priest Balder and let him examine you.

  • ‘That sounds like a plan.’

Summons: Return to Pandaemonium and talk to Governor Vidar.

Along the way

Have you returned on account of the summons?

Tell me what symptoms you’re suffering from.

  • ‘Actually I’m doing fine.’

Is that so?

Then we can consider ourselves fortunate that you’re feeling fine, but it’s too early to breath a sigh of relief.

Sometimes problems can arise in places that can’t be seen.

Come a little closer, I need to give you a thorough examination.

  • (You allow Balder to examine you.)

Let’s see now... aha!

Your breathing is normal, as is the flow of aether in your body.

Looks like everything’s normal.

Just to make absolutely sure, I’m going to treat you with the Energy of Cleansing and Healing.

That’s it now, relax your body, breath in... deep breath... now breath out...

  • (You suddenly feel hazy.)

You’re suffering from shock, but don’t worry.

It’s like a child who gets lost, the feeling will soon wear off.

  • ‘Wear off...?’

Exactly.

You arrived here as a result of the temporal turbulence.

Not even we thought this was possible.

But if you managed to get here this way, you’ll disappear in the same manner.

  • You nod your head in confusion.

The axis of time is off kilter because of Tiamat’s ill-judged manipulations.

There are ever more strange and unpredictable phenomena occurring, as you and the other Daevas know only too well.

It’s only a matter of time before these effects touch every creature of our world.

That’s why the lords are so concerned.

Elysea and Asmodae have no alternative but to combine their forces to stop this impending collapse of time itself. Indeed, we’re considering intervening ourselves.

  • ‘Sounds like a plan.’

Ariel is wrong.

She is absolutely adamant in her weak and careless opinion, all for your benefit.

Since Siel’s disappearance, none of us has managed to learn how to control the power of time.

That’s why we must be extremely careful in what we do.

If we start tinkering with things, we might only make everything worse.

  • You keep listening.

Even if we must make a hundred concessions and allow Elysea and Asmodae to ally, it would still be better if the Daevas dealt with this themselves.

The lords must keep themselves out of this matter.

Were we to get involved, it would only accelerate the impending collapse of time.

Daeva who hath appeared before us.

What would you do if your will and your abilities were suddenly called upon?

  • ‘Sounds like a plan.’

That’s what I was hoping.

You are not as weak as Ariel believes.

You have the will and the skills to stop time’s collapse.

It should be sufficient if we simply give you some of our power, rather than getting involved ourselves.

Here is my promise, Daeva. If you pass this test, then you will receive the chance to train with the power of the lords.

  • ‘Sounds like a plan.’

That’s not good...

In order to prove he was right, Azphel is preparing a test.

Who knows how severely he will test you before he is satisfied?

This is clearly the wrong path.

  • You keep listening.

Oh, Daeva, just as you have come, so must you leave this place.

I will help you.

And not only now. When time threatens to collapse, I will not abandon you.

The other lords will also lend you their power in future.

Ariel swears this to you by her own name.

  • ‘Sounds like a plan.’

Daeva..., Daeva...!

Well, look here, you’re awake.

While I was treating you, you suddenly fainted. Gave me a fright, I can tell you.

  • ‘I’m... I’m fine.’

Reward

It seems your ruddy health was only superficial. All is not well under the surface.

You’re clearly suffering from long-term effects.

Nobody knows where the temporal turbulence is strongest.

I’ve healed and cleansed you, but you should be sure to rest your body for a while too.

Come back to me if your symptoms reoccur.

Completion

You received an order summoning you to Pandaemonium, where you returned and sought out Governor Vidar.

Vidar informed you that Daevas who had been dispatched to Apheta Beluslan and Tartarus are suffering from unusual symptoms as a result of time dilation. He wanted you to undergo a physical examination by High Priest Balder.

During the examination, you lost consciousness and fell into an unknown space.

In this place, where dream and reality can barely be kept apart, you were party to an argument between the Lord of Darkness, Azphel and the Lady of Light, Ariel.

Lady Ariel was extremely distressed by the impending collapse of time, and appealed for the lords to intervene.

Lord Azphel objected, claiming that if the lords were to intervene, it would only make matters worse.

Azphel wanted to put you to the test, in order to prove that the Daevas are perfectly capable of handling this crisis, without any need for the lords to get involved. He promised to share some of the lords’ power with you, should you pass the test.

Lady Ariel promised you her aid in using the lords’ power, so that you could leave this place unharmed and resolve the crisis.

You defeated Azphel’s creatures and left the location, awakening and returning to High Priest Balder as if it were all just a dream.

Balder asked you if you were alright, but you didn’t say anything as you wouldn’t have been able to explain anyway.
