Why, why do you keep coming here to find me?

Did I not tell you I was hiding? Hiding--as in trying not to be found.

It is not safe for me or my family if other Shulacks know where I am. Very bad trouble. Why do you keep coming here?

• "Sorry. Here, I'll hide behind this while we talk."

Talk? What should we talk about, Daeva? I know nothing that would interest a Daeva....

Ah! Perhaps I do! There is a book...Daeva like books! Dorkin knows where a Research Journal is...sort of.

Do you want to have a look? It might contain much information. If I tell you where to find it, will you keep my location secret?

• Accept.
• Decline.

This other Daeva, Marica, she left the book in my sleeping hole. It was too lumpy to sleep on, so I threw it away.

I do not know exactly where it landed, somewhere by Taloc's Boughs. Daeva Marica is mad she lost it. She is rude, so I do not tell her where I think it is.

You should find the Research Journal. Take a peek inside. Maybe return it to Marica...or maybe not?

• "Interesting plan."

Dorkin told you about a book he'd found and discarded. Marica's been looking for the book. Find it and return it.

A Shulack hiding in Taloc told you where to find my book?

Why that despicable fuzz ball! I hope his whiskers fall out!

That journal contains years of research notes! I've been trying to find it for weeks, but every time I stopped and asked that Shulack about it, he always said he hadn't seen it! Phony shade-loving roach!

• "Now, now. Calm down."

My research journal?

You really know where it is? Asmodae's mittens! I have to get it back! It's got years of data in it!

Unfortunately, I can't leave right now. Could you please go look for it?

• "Well, all right. If it's that important."

This is the diary I kept when I was investigating Taloc.

This one day, I was being chased by a swarm of bugs and I stuffed the journal into a hole to keep it safe. But when I went back for it, it was gone!

Did you read it? Wait, this isn't my book! I think it's a journal from an exploratory expedition to Taloc. I wonder who wrote this, and when? Hmm...interesting...I'll have to study this.

Dorkin convinced you to go away and look for a book that he'd seen.

You found the book and returned it to Marica. It turned out not to be hers, but she seemed to find it interesting.
