Story
The offer
Daeva, there are you.
I’ve been waiting for you.
There’s something I’d like to ask of you. It’s a dangerous business, and you’re the only Daeva I can ask, Daeva.
- You ask what this is about.
I’ve received a strange report from a patrol south of the Rhonnam Refugee Village.
Apparently they’ve stumbled upon some strange Balaur activity.
A Drakan used some kind of mysterious power they’re unfamiliar with.
- ‘A mysterious power...?’
Journal
Merhen in the Gelkmaros Fortress has a mission for you.
Along the way
I can’t say anything more for now.
But since the Balaur are involved, I need to follow up on this report.
If the Balaur have discovered a dangerous new power, that could become a threat for all Asmodians.
It could be dangerous, but will you investigate, Daeva?
- You say that you will.
I didn’t expect anything less.
I can trust you with this.
Talk to Elam in the Rhonnam Refugee Village.
- You accept the mission.
Make it quick, I’m on duty.
What do you want?
- You ask if he has seen any suspicious Balaur.
Yes, I have.
I take it Merhen sent you?
A short while ago, I discovered a Drakan Scout while out on patrol.
Looked like he was out of Twilight Drana Farm, and I wanted to capture him before he could cause any mischief.
I managed to trap him in a dead end... then something happened.
- You ask what happened.
Well he was like a porgus ready for slaughter, injured with no way out.
Then he pulled something out of his pouch, there was a flash like lightning.
And he was... gone.
- ‘Gone?’
It’s the truth!
I’m sure there was no way out, but... he was gone.
I bet you think I’m imagining things, that I messed up somehow, and I don’t blame you, I hardly believe it myself.
But I’m not imagining it, I had that Drakan cornered, and yet somehow he vanished.
I tried to pick up his trail again, but no joy. Could you try to track him down, Daeva?
- You say that you will.
Thanks for dealing with this personally, Daeva.
He can’t have gotten far, not with the injuries he’d sustained.
Please let me know once you find him.
- You end the conversation.
(That must be the Drakan Latis was talking about.)
(Maybe he’s carrying a clue...)
- You search the Drakan.
Did you find the Drakan I was telling you about?
Where was he?
- You show what you found.
That’s it! That’s the thing he flashed away with!
But... what on Atreia is it?
Have you ever seen anything like it, Daeva?
- You shake your head.
I don’t know what it is, but I have a bad feeling about it.
Show it to Merhen, maybe he’ll know more.
I can’t leave my post while I’m on duty.
Can you return to the Gelkmaros Fortress and give it to Merhen, Daeva?
- You say that you will.
Daeva, there you are.
Did you find Elam?
- You explain what happened.
The Drakan had a strange gadget?
Show me.
- You show the device you found.
What’s wrong, Daeva?
You’ve gone all pale.
- You explain what happened.
This little gadget stopped time in its tracks?
Unbelievable!
But if that’s true...
Then Tiamat could have become even more powerful than we thought.
To tell the truth, there have been reports of similar objects being discovered in Balaurea.
Most of them were found near the rift which appeared so precipitously.
- You ask where.
Do you want to search this place yourself?
I agree there must be some connection between this Abyss Rift and recent events.
From what I understand, Tiamat has built some kind of construction on the far side of this Abyss Rift. I’d like you to go and investigate.
Meet up with Pahir, an agent active near the rift, and he’ll explain the rest.
- You say that you will.
Are you the Daeva I’m expecting?
Did Merhen send you?
- You say that you came to investigate the rift.
You want to examine this rift from the inside?
We’ve managed to confirm that there’s some kind of construction on the other side, but we deemed it too dangerous to investigate.
Safer to leave that in the capable hands of Merhen’s Daeva, eh? Can I count on you?
Just be careful over there. It’s your first time, after all.
Karnia will be on the other side waiting for you.
Are you ready?
- You teleport through the rift to Tempus.
Who are you?
Are you the Daeva who’s to snoop around here?
- You nod.
There are too many Balaur for us to move forward here.
Even for a Daeva of your standing, this won’t be easy.
Then let me give you these things I found, maybe they’ll prove useful.
Maybe you can find out how.
Please be careful!
- You accept the items.
(On looking more closer, you discover some pieces of paper.)
(There documents under the device reveal themselves to be a report of some kind.)
- You read the report.
I understand you’ve investigated the rift’s interior.
What did you learn?
- You hand over the device and report what you saw in the Tempus facility.
Reward
Tempus... so Tiamat has a secret construction?
And you saw a glowing golden girl there?
Does this mean that the experiments on living relics in the Tiarkh Testing Lab were successful?
That girl you saw might be one of the living relics Tiamat wants so badly.
We don’t know what Tiamat would be capable of if she can use this girl.
We have to do everything we can to find that girl before Tiamat or the Elyos do!
I’ll pass on the intelligence you’ve acquired to my superiors.
If I learn anything new, I’ll be sure to let you know, Daeva.
Completion
Merhen from the Gelkmaros Fortress received a report about suspicious Balaur activity and wanted you to follow up on it.
Elam told you about a Drakan scout he was chasing down but lost sight of.
You joined Latis on the hunt for the vanished Drakan scout, and discovered his corpse beside an unidentified device.
When you tried to take the device with you, so you could show it to Merhen, it suddenly became active. You were witness to a curious event as time in the immediate vicinity of the device seemed to came to a standstill.
Merhen told you that a similar device had already been discovered in Gelkmaros, and an unknown Abyss Rift had formed nearby. He requested that you investigate the rift’s interior.
Inside the Abyss rift, you discovered the Tempus facility, which appeared to have been built by the Balaur.
On further exploration, you found reports which detailed with what purpose this construction was devised.
In Tempus they were using living relics, developed in the Tiarkh Testing Lab, to create devices bearing the power of Siel’s Relics within them.
You pressed further into the Tempus facility and found a girl, shining gold, trapped inside a research vessel.
Then the girl disappeared in front of your eyes.
It took great effort on your part, but you managed to get out of the Tempus facility and report your findings to Merhen. He said that the girl might be a living relic, and must be found before either Tiamat or the Elyos find her.
